Teacher Appreciation Treats

Melissa Bastow

These chocolate covered pretzels look like apples!  It's so cute.  And any teacher, or child, or random stranger, will LOVE them.  They're adorable and they taste delish, plus they're pretty easy to make!

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 pkg. Twist Pretzels
  • 1 Hershey Bar
  • 1 pkg. Wilton Chocolate Melts, Red and White
  • Green Tootsie Rolls
  • Candy Sprinkles or mini chocolate chips

Melt the red and white chocolate colors separately by placing them in glass bowls and microwaving. Heat 30 seconds at a time, stirring each time until melted.  Dip some pretzels into the red chocolate and completely coat them.  For some of pretzels dip only half of them in the red chocolate.  Place the pretzels on some parchment paper to dry.

Dip the half red covered pretzels into the white chocolate to coat the other half.  Place 3 little dark colored sprinkles or mini chocolate chips to resemble apple seeds. (Place the "seeds" while the chocolate is still wet so they'll stick.)

Cut little rectangular pieces of Hershey’s chocolate for the stem.  Attach them by putting a dot of melted chocolate on the end and sticking it on the top of the apple pretzel.  For the leaves, flatten a green tootsie roll and cut tiny leaf shapes out.  Attach them the say way, by putting a dot of melted chocolate on the leaf and placing over the stem.

Once all the pieces are attach, let the pretzels cool and dry completely on your parchment paper.  Then they're ready to give to your favorite teacher!  (Or class, or stranger.)  They're going to go gaga over them!!
